The Ministry of Interior removed Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan from office on March 3, 2026, following his arrest on charges of “extortion.” The ministry stated that the decision was taken as a temporary measure in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipalities Law.
