A transgender student at Kocaeli University has been subjected to threats and harassment by the administration of the KYK Gazi Süleymanpaşa Dormitory since the beginning of 2026. The dormitory administration forced the student to leave the dormitory, citing their clothing as a reason, and demanded that they find a place to live. The student asked which rule they had violated but received no concrete answer. The student’s medical information was shared without permission, and their room was entered without notice. Students and the Kuir Kozgun community protested the dormitory administration, stating that these actions were discriminatory and unlawful.
