Yunus Emre Işık, the lawyer of Peace Academician Aslı Aydemir, stated that his client was attacked by an Islamist group in front of LeMan magazine on June 30, but did not attack anyone or throw a glass. It was stated that Aydemir was attacked by a group of men in the video footage in order to be lynched, that the glass in her hand fell out of her hand, but that she did not intentionally harm anyone.
Despite this, Aydemir was arrested on charges of “resisting the police” and “intentional injury”. Lawyer Işık said that the videos were shown to the prosecutor’s office and the court and that the incident was misinterpreted under political pressure and the arrest was ordered. It is reported that the detention will be appealed in the coming days.
