Antalya – Students living in the girls’ dormitories of the LDA on the campus of Akdeniz University are being investigated for participating in the March 19 protests. Students reported that they were threatened with disciplinary punishment and expulsion from the dormitory.
According to the KYK’s statement minutes, participating in democratic protests and chanting slogans were grounds for expulsion from the dormitory. Students stated that they were exercising their constitutional rights and that these investigations were aimed at political pressure. Speaking to Evrensel, one student said, “We are already staying in KYK dormitories due to financial difficulties. Now we are threatened with our right to housing.”
