The two lawsuits previously filed against People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Izmir MP Ertuğrul Kürkçü due to the speeches he gave while he was the Mersin MP were merged into one case file.
The first hearing of the case will be held today and Kürkçü will attend the hearing at Ankara 16th Assize Court with the Audiovisual Information System (SEGBIS). The indictment was prepared by Mersin Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor Murat Şadan Baş in 2017 following the Parliamentary immunities being taken off, claiming an imprisonment sentence against Kürkçü for up to 15 years in total due to ‘armed terrorist organization membership’ and ‘propaganda.’ The second lawsuit was filed by Mersin Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor Cemil Balcılar at Mersin 8th Assize Court, claiming an imprisonment sentence against Kürkçü for up to 5 years due to ‘propaganda.’
