The Council of Judges and Prosecutors has launched an investigation into Mehmet Akif Katırcı, the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Antalya. Katırcı attended an iftar program organized by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality on March 11 and joined in a “freedom” prayer for detained Mayor Muhittin Böcek. The footage sparked controversy because Katırcı’s signature appears on the indictment prepared against Böcek.
