At a commemoration event held in Karaman on March 12, the first two stanzas of the Turkish National Anthem were recited in Arabic, while the remainder was recited in Turkish. The event was organized by the Karaman Provincial Directorate of National Education. The decision drew public backlash. Following the backlash, the Karaman Governor’s Office launched an investigation into the school administrators and officials responsible for organizing the event.
