On June 1, police intervened against citizens who had gathered at Güvenpark in response to a call by the Ankara Labor and Democracy Forces to commemorate Ethem Sarısülük. The police cordoned off Güvenpark and the surrounding area with barricades, blocked those attempting to enter the park, and used pepper spray on Yüksel Street. The police detained 24 people, including union leaders and members of the SOL Party, and also intervened against party members gathered in front of the SOL Party Headquarters, firing tear gas into the party building.
