Tuğçenur Özbay, who is detained at the Şakran Women’s Closed Prison in Aliağa, İzmir, reached the 124th day of her indefinite hunger strike on June 1 in protest against the imposition of a “prisoner ID card.” Özbay’s legal guardian, Emir Karakum, stated that the practice lacks a legal basis and noted that prison authorities have been blocking family visits and phone privileges for approximately six months. Karakum emphasized that responsibility for Özbay’s health lies with the Ministry of Justice and the prison administration.
