As part of a corruption investigation led by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, police carried out a raid on the Buca Municipality on June 1. Arrest warrants were issued for 62 individuals, including Buca Mayor Görkem Duman and former Mayor Erhan Kılıç. While 53 people were taken into custody during the operation, it was announced that three were already in prison and six were on the run.
