Those gathering at the entrance of Sakarya Square and in front of Çankara Municipality in Ankara to protest trustee assignments against Diyarbakır, Mardin and Van Municipalities faced police prevention. The police intervened the protests due to the Governorate ban, detaining 42 people in total. The press statement to be organized by the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) MPs Serpil Kemalbay, Hasan Özgüneş and Murat Çepni in Alsancak, Izmir was prevented as well. The police intervened HDP MPs and members, not allowing the press statement to be held. Those injured during the police intervention were taken to the hospital; four were detained. The protest in Bağlar district of Diyarbakır was intervened by the police as well. Seven people, including Lice Mayor Tarık Mercan, were detained. Libertarian Lawyers Association Executive Board member Berdan Acun stated that 145 people were detained in Diyarbakır, where trustees replaced mayors, since August 19th; and that more than 600 were detained in regional provinces.
