Four university students, who hung a banner on the outside of Demirören Shopping Mall in Taksim, Istanbul, were detained together with two others recording the protest. Lawyer Ezgi Önalan reported to BiaNet that the students were detained and charged with “making illegal organisation propaganda” and that they are awaiting a transfer to the courthouse today.
The protesters wanted to draw attention to “the increasing economic problems and the silence of media.”
