Twelve people were detained as part of an investigation into the Bayrampaşa Municipality in Istanbul. The investigation, conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, involved allegations of “embezzlement,” “extortion,” “bribery,” and “corruption.” Municipal employees and several private individuals were detained in an operation organized by the Financial Crimes Unit. The prosecutor’s office announced that the investigation involved Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu and municipal staff. It was reported that efforts to apprehend one individual were ongoing as part of the investigation.
