Police intervened in a protest held in Kocaeli against HTŞ’s attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria. Citizens gathered in Dilovası City Square at the call of the Kocaeli Democratic Institutions Platform and sent messages of solidarity with the people of Rojava. Police cordoned off the square before the protest and did not allow a march to take place. In response, the crowd staged a sit-in. Speaking at the event, Ibrahim Ergin, co-chair of the DEM Party in Kocaeli, and Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, a DEM Party MP, condemned the attacks on Kurds. Following the protest, two people were detained during the police intervention.
