In the application of the Turkish Medical Association (TTB), whose participation at the May 1st celebrations in Istanbul in 2009, the Constitutional Court decided that the “right to meeting and demonstration” was violated and issued 5 thousand TL of compensation to be paid to the applicants. Former TTB executives Ali Çerkezoğlu, Ali Küçük, Elif Kırteke, Eriş Bilaloğlu, Hüseyin Demirdizen and Mehmet Nazmi Algan faced police intervention with pressurised water and tear gas at Pangaltı, Istanbul. In the criminal complaint they made afterwards due to prevention of their legal rights through police violence, a verdict of non-prosecution had previously been issued.
