Istanbul Anatolian 20th Civil Court of First Instance sentenced Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to 337 thousand TL compensation to be paid to President Erdoğan and his relatives due to the statements of Kılıçdaroğlu on the ‘Isle of Man’ documents.
The lawsuit was filed against Kılıçdaroğlu due to his speech during the CHP group meeting on 21 November 2017, claiming that the President and his relatives were making financial transfers to the Isle of Man. Kılıçdaroğlu was therefore asserted to have “made unreal, denigrating and humiliating accusations and insulted Erdoğan and his relatives” within the file. Lawyer of Kılıçdaroğlu, Celal Çelik protested the court judge after the decree was issued at the end of the proceeding by taking his robe off and leaving the hearing room.
