The CHP’s February 2026 Freedom of Expression Report revealed that interventions targeting freedom of expression and press freedom in Turkey continue in a systematic manner. The report noted that access restrictions, interventions in protests, RTÜK sanctions, the disinformation law, and charges of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility” are being used as tools of repression. According to the report, journalists, social media users, and CHP youth continued to face detention, arrest, and censorship measures in February.
