Mersin 7-Colour LGBTI+ Association launched the 2018 Mediterranean Region Rights Violations Report. The report includes incidents of discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity based on the applications made at the association, in-person meetings and tracked lawsuits. According to the report, perpetrators of most violations are unidentified.
135 cases take place in the report, 63 of which are in Mersin. The association reports 60 incidents of hate speech and discrimination, 43 incidents of threat, 41 of psychological violence and 31 of physical violence. 52 of these incidents were perpetrated by unidentified individuals and 26 by police officers.
