Gathering together to fight against violations of freedom of expression, Freedom of Expression Network – Turkey has realized its first meeting to be held regularly every first Monday (Black Monday, Disgraceful Monday) of each month.
Civil disobedience protests have been made on 2 May 2016 in İstanbul (Çağlayan Courthouse), Ankara and İzmir simultaneously to support 3 different cases.
In the first Black Monday, the crimes taken part in have been the “crimes” of Ayşe Çelik, who had participated to the TV programme hosted by Beyazıt Öztürk via phone call, of the ones who had supported her by participating to the civil disobedience protest organized, of journalists Kemal Göktaş (Cumhuriyet) and Cem Gurbetoğlu (Evrensel) and Tamer Arda Erşin, who had been on trial because of the news they published on the explosion in Ankara, of Fatih Öztekin, who had been arrested due to “insulting the President” over asking directions for a zoo in Atatürk Forest Farm to the police.
