Four young people who attended a press statement calling for the release of Workers’ Party of Türkiye university students Nevin Tekin and Nehir Dizdar, who were arrested for protesting National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin, were detained. Police detained Özenç Cevahir İslamoğlu, a board member of the Revolutionary Youth Associations, a Socialist Refoundation Party Party Council member named Deniz, and two students from the Galatasaray University Solidarity Network in raids on their homes. The four were referred to the courthouse on a charge of “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations” and were released under judicial control. TİP members Nevin Tekin and Nehir Dizdar had been arrested on 25 October for hanging banners reading “We have no future, you will have no peace” and “Yusuf Tekin resign” ahead of Minister Tekin’s visit to Kadıköy High School.
