Thirteen people, including Mayor Mithat Bülent Özmen, were arrested in an investigation into Eyüpsultan Municipality. Of the 28 people detained as part of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office investigation, 17 were referred to a judgeship with a request for arrest. The criminal judgeship of peace arrested Özmen on charges of “bid rigging,” “receiving bribes” and “membership in a criminal organization,” while the other 12 were arrested on charges of “bid rigging.” The judgeship cited examinations of seven municipal tenders, witness statements, HTS records and law-enforcement reports as grounds for the decision. Halil İbrahim Şahin, Ali Kemal Güler, Ali Yentur and Bilal Gören, who were also referred with arrest requests, were released with a travel ban and a weekly reporting obligation. Prosecutors had also imposed judicial control on 11 people.
