A lawsuit was filed against Labour Party (EMEP) Chairwoman Selma Gürkan due to her statements on EMEP members, who were arrested due to distributing leaflets. The indictment, accepted by Ankara 15th Assize Court, charges Gürkan with ‘making illegal organization propaganda.’
In her statement on 27 February 2018 at Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse, Gürkan indicated that the members are being targeted due to the notice calling for peace in relation to the Afrin Operation, and that this lawsuit is not a legal but a political case. The first hearing of the case against Gürkan will be held on 9 October 2018.
