Istanbul 4th Criminal Judgeship of Peace ordered the seizure of printed copies and copies still being printed of “Millet Şahidimdir” (“The Nation Is My Witness”), a book consisting of detained Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu’s defense in the İBB case, and banned its distribution and sale. The judgeship stated that the book contained insulting and derogatory remarks about the President, the judiciary, the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and public officials, and assessed that some statements could increase tensions in society and disrupt public order and security. The decision was based on Press Law No. 5187. The book had been scheduled for publication on 30 August.
