Retired Rear Admiral Türker Ertürk was arrested over a video published about three years earlier that had recently recirculated on social media. The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into Ertürk based on statements in the video on charges of “threatening with the intent to create fear and panic among the public” and “incitement to commit a crime.” Police detained Ertürk. The prosecutor’s office referred him to the Bakırköy Duty Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for arrest, and the judgeship ordered his arrest.
