The Freedom of Expression Association announced plans for new legal regulations targeting VPN services on April 20. The proposal requires VPN providers to establish a company in Turkey and obtain authorization from the Information and Communications Technologies Authority (BTK). Officials stated that those who fail to comply with the rules will face fines ranging from 1 to 30 million TL, and those who fail to meet their obligations will be subject to bandwidth throttling or access restrictions.
