Workers on strike at the Temel Conta factory in the İzmir Pancar Organized Industrial Zone were detained during raids on their homes on the morning of April 17. The Gendarmerie took the workers, for whom arrest warrants had previously been issued, in for questioning on charges of “disturbing the peace and order.” Proceedings were initiated against 12 of the 16 workers; female workers were also detained during the raids.
