As part of an “extortion” investigation targeting the Bolu Municipality, the gendarmerie conducted a search of the municipal building on April 4, 2026, and detained three more individuals. The investigation was conducted by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Thirteen people, including Mayor Tanju Özcan, had previously been detained in connection with the same case, and Özcan and his deputy had been arrested.
