On March 25, 2026, the Van Provincial Directorate of National Education imposed a fine of 400,050 TL on the ARSÎSA Association for Language, Culture, and Arts Research, which conducts Kurdish language education programs, on the grounds of “unauthorized educational activities.” The association and language activists stated that the decision was aimed at preventing the learning of Kurdish and expressed their opposition to the measure.
