Police intervened against hundreds of people who gathered in the city center in response to a call from the Democratic Institutions Platform to protest the attacks on Rojava. After the February 1 Rojava Solidarity Day statement, which was also attended by Keskin Bayındır, Co-Chair of the Democratic Regions Party, police tried to prevent the crowd from dispersing, saying, “You will disperse one by one.” Police teams attacked the group, who were chanting slogans in response to the police intervention, and detained two people after torturing them. During the intervention, the main street was blocked with shields and journalists were prevented from working in the area.
