The DEM Party İzmir Provincial Organization gathered in front of Konak Pier to protest the events unfolding in Northern and Eastern Syria. The group, which included DEM Party MPs Burcugül Çubuk and Mahmut Dindar, attempted to march from Konak to Cumhuriyet Square. Police units blocked the march, stating that the notification had only been issued for a press statement. When the group insisted on marching, a brief scuffle broke out between them and the police. As heavy rain began to fall, the group dispersed under police escort.
