Ankara 9th Assize Court considered participating in local administration symposiums and rallies organized by professional unions as “illegal organization membership.” 19 people, including former Munzur University faculty member Dr. Ahmet Kerim Gültekin, who was dismissed from his job with an emergency decree, as well as other research members, Ph.D and graduate students to a total of 121 years of imprisonment. As the court sentenced 16 people to 6 years and three months of imprisonment each due to “illegal organization membership” due to “illegal organization membership” and sentenced 18 people to 10 months of imprisonment each due to “making illegal organization propaganda.”
