The indictment against 9 lawyers, who protested the trustees appointed to the municipalities with a press statement in front of the Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse in August 2019, was accepted on the charge of “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations.” In the indictment of the case against lawyers Akçay Taşçı, Avni Güçlü Zengin, Eren Keskin, Gökmen Yeşil, Gülhan Kaya, Hüseyin Boğatekin, Kemal Aytaç, Sinan Zincir and Yaprak Türkmen, the slogans chanted by the lawyers, banners they opened, as well as Eren Keskin’s expressions were considered among the criminal evidence. Keskin had stated, “We are here to protest once again the Oriental Reform Edict applied in Kurdistan. We are here against the violence policy implemented in Kurdistan since the Republic.”
