Poet and writer Batuhan Dedde stated that he has been systematically subjected to violence and threatened since 2017 because of his writings and said, “I have no hope anymore. I have decided to leave my homeland.”
Dede stated that he has been receiving calls by people who said, “We are calling from the Ottoman Hearths. Delete what you wrote. Withdraw your books from shelves. Erase the tattoo on your arm and neck, otherwise we will cut your neck and arm.” Dedde was beaten by 3 people in Kadıköy Moda in June 2017, immediately after a phone call saying “You will see us.”
