In the Suruç Massacre case, the court sentenced the only arrested defendant, Yakup Şahin, to 34 times aggravated life imprisonment, 70 times to 27 years in prison and a fine of 40 thousand liras on charges of “deliberate homicide and attempted homicide” due to the number of victims and those injured; thus closing the case file. The victim families’ claims of recusation and the lawyers’ claims to defend against the opinion of the Prosecutor’s Office and to extend the prosecution, were all denied.
The requests of the judges to be rejected by the families and the requests of the lawyers to defend against the opinion and to extend the prosecution were rejected.
