Musician Ronas Aram has expressed, in his column, that the singing of Kurdish songs in the “Art on the Street” event organized by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in order to show solidarity with artists was “effectively banned.” The contract made between the organizing company and the artists has indicated that “political and explicit content can’t take place in the repertoire.” The name of the band Aram was playing in, “Roj Band,” was vetoed by the company officials as well.
