In the report, entitled, “Safety of journalists and media freedom in Europe” which passed Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly, Turkey was listed among the “countries in which safety of journalists is under threat” together with Russia, Azerbaijan, Malta and Hungary. The report indicated that the highest number of arrested journalists within the Council of Europe are in Turkey, calling for Turkey to “end using the criminal and the anti-terror law to silence the press and journalists.”
