Public workers who are protesting to get their jobs back together with their supporters in front of the Human Rights Monument on Yüksel Street since 9 November 2016 reported the police intervention during this period.
The police took protesters in custody countless times during the protests ongoing for more than 500 days, intervening the protests with tear gas, rubber bullets and pressurized water. The interventions are made due to the protest ban issued by Ankara Governorate based on the State of Emergency. During the interventions, Nuriye Gülmen’s nose, Zeynal Danacı and Veli Saçılık’s arms, supporters Hakan Keskin’s foot as well as Turgut Türksoy and Cengiz Uğurlu’s ribs were broken. Hair of Nazan Bozkurt, supporters Gülnaz Bozkurt, Merve İnanç and Bilge Yılmaz were pulled from their roots during the custodies. 75-year-old supporter Perihan Pulat was hit with a police shield. In another protest, Pulat, who was standing on the side, was thrown on the floor by a police officer and wounded in the face. The protesters will present the report to the Prosecutor’s Office as well, providing hundreds of historical photographs on the incidents.
