IHD Batman Branch Prisons Commission stated that prisoners’ rights to life and health have been violated due to water cuts and unhealthy drinking water in Batman prisons for a month and demanded an investigation against those responsible. It was announced that Batman Closed, Batman T Type and Batman L Type Open Prisons in Beşiri are only given water for 30 minutes to 2 hours a day, prisoners are deprived of shower, toilet and hygiene facilities in the summer heat, heavy odors and the risk of infectious diseases. It was stated that diarrhea, vomiting and headache cases increased due to poor quality water, at least 40 prisoners were hospitalized, but the referrals were delayed. IHD demanded an end to water cuts, provision of clean water, improvement of hygiene conditions, testing of water quality by independent laboratories and access of independent monitoring delegations to prisons.
