Some victims who claimed to have suffered damage in the events that took place in Lice in 1993 filed a criminal complaint against their lawyers, Hasip Kaplan and Ayşe Bingöl Demir, on charges of “abuse of office.” The victims alleged that the lawyers provided them with misleading information about compensation lawsuits and caused them to lose their rights by not appealing the decisions of the Damage Assessment Commission. The Batman 1st Heavy Penal Court decided to open an investigation against the lawyers and ruled that the case should be heard by the Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court.
