Van Governorate banned all events and activities like marches, meetings, press statements, sit-in protests and booths across the province for ten days (April 29-May 8). The Governorate showed the call for May 1st protests as reason for the ban, claiming, “calls by leftist, marginal and provocative groups to go on the streets for May 1st attempt to create a mass street gathering.”
