Republican People’s Party (CHP) 26th Session MP and journalist Barış Yarkadaş announced data on the rights violations against journalists within the last month. Six journalists were imprisoned in April; 10 out of 81 journalists received final decrees in hearings held within the lawsuits filed against them. The journalists were sentenced to a total of 14 years and seven months of imprisonment. 17 new lawsuits were filed and two new investigations were opened against the journalists.
