The second hearing of the trial of journalist Zafer Arapkirli, who is being prosecuted for “insulting the president” due to his social media posts, was held on January 13 at the Istanbul 60th Criminal Court of First Instance. The prosecution presented its opinion on the merits of the case, which was opened following a complaint by Cem Küçük, and requested that Arapkirli be sentenced to between one and four years in prison. Arapkirli’s lawyer, Kemal Aytaç, requested time to make a statement in response to the opinion. The court adjourned the hearing until March 3.
