Former Central Bank bureaucrat and Hürriyet Daily’s economy writer Uğur Gürses quit the newspaper after his last column was not published. A columnist for Hürriyet since April 2014, Gürses criticized the decision of the Capital Markets Board (CMB) that removed “insider trading” from being a crime, writing that this decision is “a black stain for Turkey’s capital market.” The column was not published by the newspaper due to “the newspaper being a public company as well, and that they have relations to the CMB.” In his last column published on July 13th, Gürses criticized the regulation at the Central Bank following a Presidential decree.
