In the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Istanbul Criminal Judgeship of Peace appointed the SDIF as trustee to nine companies affiliated with Can Holding. The prosecutor’s office stated that the companies were used for laundering proceeds of crime and qualified fraud, that their assets remained unguarded and that the activities were carried out through these companies. The decision was based on Criminal Procedure Code 133 and related law amendments. Among the companies to which trustees were appointed were Türktab Marketing, ZA Lojistik, Canpet, Tares, Furkon, Temiz Petrol, MCN Petrol, Yön Özel Eğitim and Mer Yatırım. The file was transferred from the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office without authorization; the investigation was expanded and continued with the SDIF, MASAK, Police and Gendarmerie.
