The second hearing of the trial against journalists and politicians accused of “making illegal organization propaganda” for attending the commemoration for journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, who were killed in Syria in 2024, lasted only 3 minutes. Istanbul 25th High Criminal Court decided to continue the ban on leaving the country due to the absence of witnesses and adjourned the hearing to July 10, 2025.
Journalists Gülistan Dursun, Serpil Ünal, Hayri Tunç, Osman Akın, Can Papila, Enes Sezgin and Pınar Gayıp did not attend the hearing and only lawyers were present. In the first hearing of the case, the files of 5 people charged with “opposing the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations” were separated and sent to the criminal court of first instance.
