Footage emerged showing guards torturing inmate Omer Cuma Salih during a search conducted on July 7 at Elazığ Prison No. 2. During the search of the cell on the pretext of finding a “compass,” the head guard and prison guards ransacked the cell, broke belongings, and took Salih to the upper floor where they beat him. The footage shows Salih shouting “Stop hitting me” and bruising and swelling on his face after the beating. An expert report prepared at the request of the Elazığ Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office also concluded that Salih had been mistreated. Salih filed a complaint against the head guard.
