On the 100th day of the investigations against CHP municipalities and IBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, 42 people were detained and 14 were arrested in a police intervention after a rally in Saraçhane. D.L.K., one of the young people detained and released with judicial control, spoke to Cumhuriyet and explained the process.

D.L.K. said that when the crowd was about to disperse, he was deliberately squeezed and pepper sprayed directly in the face, detained in reverse handcuffs and subjected to police violence. D.L.K. stated that he was denied food and water in detention and that he had serious problems in accessing health services.

The youth were charged with “violating Law No. 2911” and “insulting the President”. It was claimed that lawyers were not allowed to meet with their clients for 18 hours and that the arrests were made on political orders. Witnesses said that most of those arrested were under the age of 20, making it “the youngest wave of arrests”.
