The first hearing of the case against journalists Timur Soykan and Barış Pehlivan on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information” was held at the Bakırköy 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance. Barış Pehlivan and his lawyers attended the hearing. In his defense, Pehlivan stated that he was acting as a journalist and that his words were intended to inform the public. His lawyer, Gamze Pamuk, stated that the legal elements of the crime were not present. Timur Soykan’s lawyer submitted an excuse. The court postponed the hearing until April 14, 2026, to allow for the completion of the defenses. The case was filed due to statements made on the “Kayda Geçsin” program broadcast on Halk TV.
