The first hearing in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) trial, in which 402 people—including Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, municipal officials, mayors, and journalists—are on trial, was held in Silivri. While prosecutors are seeking prison sentences ranging from 828 to 2,352 years for İmamoğlu, 105 defendants are being tried while in custody. During the hearing, disputes arose over the right to speak, and the court rejected a motion by İmamoğlu’s lawyers to recuse the judge. The court announced that it was ending the hearing early due to the month of Ramadan and adjourned the case until the following day.
