Women and members of the LGBTI+ community gathered at the Grand Women’s Gathering in Kadıköy, Istanbul, organized at the call of the March 8 Women’s Platform. Participants marched from the Bull Statue to İskele Square and held a press conference at the site. During the press conference, an activist who criticized the oppression of the LGBTI+ community was followed by police and taken into custody. Additionally, it was reported that a banner from the Women’s Defense Network was not allowed into the area on the grounds that it featured rainbow colors.
